The Black River Astronomical Society's

Ohio Turnpike Astronomers Association

Convention and Star Party

September 15, 2012

Most astronomy clubs that are members of the OTAA host a convention and star party during the warmer months of the year. The Black River Astronomical Society traditionally hosts the September gathering, usually near the new moon.

The 2012 Black River Astronomical Society's OTAA convention will be held on September 15th at our traditional venue, the Birmingham United Methodist Church meeting hall, behind the church at 15018 South Street in Birmingham, Ohio, 44816, near the intersection of Route 113 and Route 60. The site has very good dark skies for this area, and a large field for setting up telescopes.

The Black River OTAA typically consists of a pot luck dinner, swap tables, door prizes, and then viewing as late as sky conditions and the stamina of guests permits. We have been known to observe all night if skies remain clear. We are considering adding a speaker for the 2012 convention. Check back on this page for updates.
